e-Golf Named Top Green Compact Car

Recently, the Volkswagen e-Golf earned the Top Green Vehicle award in the Compact Car category of the 2017 AAA Green Car Guide. Up against 20 other compact cars, the e-Golf was granted the highest score among the competitors, with vehicles rated on 13 different attributes, including visibility, EPA emissions, slalom handling, ride quality and interior noise.

The 2017 e-Golf offers greater range and fuel economy, and also has greatly-increased power. The new lithium ion battery features increased energy capacity of 35.8 kWh, which lengthens the vehicle's range to an EPA-estimated 125 miles on a single charge. Improved battery chemistry helps deliver improved fuel economy of an EPA-estimated combined 119 MPGe city/highway. An upgraded electric motor produces 134 horsepower and 214 pound-feet of torque, resulting in the e-Golf registering its best-ever 0-60 mph time and top speed.

In a press release, Hendrik Muth, Senior Vice President, Product Marketing & Strategy, Volkswagen of America, Inc., noted, “We are very happy that the e-Golf SE has been selected as the Top Green Vehicle in such a competitive segment. The e-Golf embodies all of the great things inherently Volkswagen in an all-electric package.”

The 2017 e-Golf will be available later this spring. Our showroom at 1515 Interstate 10 South in Beaumont proudly serves Volkswagen drivers from the Port Arthur, Nederland and Houston areas.
