Volkswagen Sales Increase In August

Recently, Volkswagen of America announced yet another month of positive sales performance, with the company selling 32,015 vehicles across the United States during August -- which is a 9 percent improvement against results from August 2016So far for 2017, 220,344 Volkswagen vehicles have been sold in the United States -- a year-over-year gain of 6.4 percent.

Savvy car shoppers continued to flock to Volkswagen Golf models, with the family of sporty cars achieving a 23.2 percent increase with 5,961 vehicles sold in the month. Total Golf sales for 2017 have grown 36.4 percent on 49,761 vehicles sold, as the Golf SportWagen has led the way with a yearly increase of 168.1 percent and 88.4 percent for August.

Beetle convertible sales blossomed 38.6 percent in August. Together, the Beetle convertible and coupe have achieved a year-to-date sales gain of 16.1 percent with a total of 11,404 vehicles sold.

Consumers purchased 12,409 Volkswagen Jetta vehicles in August, marking a 5.9 percent jump over August of 2016.

August also was the first full month for sales of the all-new 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan, which features the roomy interior, flexible seating and high-tech amenities that American consumers desire. For the month, 2,516 Tiguan vehicles were delivered to U.S. shoppers.

Volkswagen will continue to sell the current generation Tiguan while it also introduces the 2017 Tiguan Limited. The Tiguan Limited, which is based off the original platform, provides customers with a high-value option in a crowded compact SUV segment.
